This series consists of a scrapbook of press clippings and photographs relating to Ronald Theodore Cropley collected by his wife, Sadie Florence Sarah Cropley. The press clippings include stories about air races, gold mining in Arnhem Land, plane crashes, and reports on life in Darwin. The photographs were taken in Sydney, Thursday Island, Darwin, Pine Creek, Mary River and Oenpelli and document RT Cropley's travels through the region as a pilot working for the Arnhem Land Gold Development company. Includes photographs of "Magic Carpet" (the Gipsy Moth biplane flown by Ronald Theodore Cropley for the Arnhem Land Gold Development company) in Darwin and Pine Creek. The scrapbook was donated by John Cropley, son of Ronald and Sadie Cropley. Due to it's fragile condition this item has been closed. The reference copies (NTRS 2299 and NTRS 2300) must be used instead. This series may contain images of Aboriginal people who have since died, which may cause sadness and distress to their relatives.
